2009 OIL CITY JR LEAGUE ALL STAR BASEBALL NEWS:          o

8/1/09:   First I would like to take the opportunity to say a few things.  1)  I apologize for losing my cool at the conclusion of tonight's game vs. Sharon.  I was correct in venting the issues- it just should not hve been done in this manner.   2)  Thank you to all the Coaches for your help during the All - Star season.  Pat Owoc and Doug Eberle have given so much to both Pulaski and the Alls Star team - without their help this would not have been possible.  Bob Rupert has spent countless hours and work with us over the past month - without him doing the organizational part of this, we would not have been able to do this.  Dan Culling has contributed immensely to the efforts to prepare these boys to be able to compete. To each - I can not thank you enough.  3) To the parents, I want to tell each of you what an honor it was to work with your sons - this is a great group of kids.  4)  To the players - I want to thank each of you.  I love sports, I have spent my entire life competing, I hope that I was able to deliver on my promises:  I hope you had fun, I hope you learned a little about baseball - and I hope you felt that we were able to compete.  This group can go far - it may not be this year, but the talent is there.  Again thank you all -this has been a lot of fun.

7/20/09:  A couple of things:   1)  Welcome aboard to Blake Hadley, Michael Rupert and Josh Gavin.  2)  Thanks for your participation to Dan Staub, Logan Way, Zack Amos, Tevin Testa and Dan Fink.  3)  Lets shake off the rust - this BWP Bats club team will be a good test.

7/13/09:  A pretty good Franklin Team got on a roll - we will see them again.  Nothing to hang your head about.  We will need to regroup and get ready for our Tournament.  District 25 has gone by the boards for this season, but I think we learned a lot about what it takes to compete. For Oil City Derrick recap - CLICK HERE.   I also got a nice email from Franklin Manager Bill Emerson:

Tom,   You guys had a nice run in all-stars.  I wanted to mention how classy a move that was for you to speak to our team after the game.  I know the coaches and players alike appreciated that gesture.  It’s also worth mentioning that your starting pitcher last night was talking with some of our boys after the game, wishing them well and luck in the upcoming games against Clarion.  He was also providing some insight into the makeup of the clarion team.  Thanks again, it’s been a fun year for all!

Now we’ll see if we can take care of Clarion and keep the D25 title local.

Cya - Bill Emerson

7/10/09:  A real tough game to swallow, A lesson learned on what type of effort and enthusiasm is needed to win games as you move on in tournament play.  A good but not great Clarion Team took advantage of 15 walks and 2 hit batters to steadily build an insurmountable lead.  Their pitcher was very hittable but we could only come up with 3 hits and 4 runs, Wes and the 2 solo HR's by Tyler L and Logan.  We took a great opportunity to put ourselves in a 1 win scenario for the District 25 crown and now turn it into a need to run of 3 consecutive wins.  IS THIS IMPOSSIBLE?  NO, but now we must replay Franklin who will come here Monday Night with blood in their eyes looking for revenge fresh off 20-1 pasting of Cranberry.  This will show what we are made of.  I would like the opportunity to play this team again - I believe we can beat them 2 games in a row, I also personally believe that score could easily have been 18-4 the other way.  For Oil City Derrick recap - CLICK HERE. Next Game Monday Night at 6PM vs. Franklin - this will begin the journey to find out how good we can be.  We will need the same effort and enthusiasm to play Franklin as we had the first time.  Players be there at 5:15 PM.  LETS GO OC, you can do this - 1 game at a time !!!  -- LOTS OF Pictures are up CLICK HERE

7/7/09:  A GREAT BALL GAME, Tremendous effort and enthusiasm carried us to a TEAM VICTORY.  The stars were everywhere tonight:  Pitching from Tyler S was everything we could ask for, and Tevin saving this with the bases loaded was huge.  Defensively:  Hunter, Daniel, Wes and Tony made our infield look like Gold Gloves.  Offensively:  Tyler L scoring twice and Zack getting across 2 big RBI's.  This is how a good team, starts to become a GREAT TEAM.  For Oil City Derrick recap - CLICK HERE.  Next Game Friday Night at 6PM vs. Clarion a 16-0 winner vs. Cranberry.  We will need the same effort and enthusiasm to play Clarion.  Players be there at 5:15 PM.  LETS GO OC !!!

7/7/09:  We have had a lot of fun so far -- NOW IT"S GAME TIME, Let the real fun begin.  GO OC !!!

7/6/09:  Practices have been going very well.  I think we had a pretty good effort against a pretty good OC SR team.  We have one more workout and Exhibition Game before our 1st game in the District 25 Tournament.  We will have some fun tomorrow night - see you all there at 5:15 PM.

6/29/09:  First practice is in - Wednesday nights practice has been moved up to 4:30 PM, lets get all paperwork in to Coach Bob Rupert.  Pictures are on the web site:  Click Here or top right of home page, we will continue to update that page.

6/25/09:  All StarTeam, Parents and Friends:  I wanted to welcome you all aboard - The coaching staff ( Doug Eberle, Bob Rupert, Pat Owoc and Dan Kulling) and I are looking for GREAT THINGS from this group. We have an awful lot o experience with this staff, and I can promise each of you 3 things for each of your sons:  They will have FUN, they will learn and expand their Baseball Experience, and they will be COMPETITIVE.  I am ready to get things going, so once the weather starts to cooperate - and we get a field, we will begin practicing.  Good Luck to all 3 Oil City teams in the Playoffs ( Pulaski, UPMC and Schneiders ),  Practice is Tuesday 6/30/09 at 6PM - Lets Go OC All Stars.
